I have been interested recently in the unusual height said to be a
characteristic of the Plantagenets: from various sources I have seen Richard
the Lion Heart's height as 6'2", Edward IV as 6'3", John of Gaunt 5'8",
Edward Longshanks 6'2", Edmund "the Giant" of Cornwall (ok that's a bit of
stretch, no pun intended, he was the 10 great-grandson of King John) 7'3".

Is this legendary or based on skeletal evidence? are there other examples?

Whilst I've not seen specific measurements for all the men you
mention, I know that some have been measured from skeletal evidence
and certainly for the Edwards, there is much concurrent descriptive
material that tells of their physical size - not in feet and inches
but by painting "the picture"
