Royal ancestry/ arms for Elizabeth (Backhouse) Bellingham of
If the following Google Print link is correct, and the first wife of
Richard Bellingham of New England, was indeed Elizabeth, granddaughter
of Nicholas Backhouse of London ...
http://books.google.com/books?id=08Ddor ... bellingham
then she is presumably the one shown in this Berkshire Visitation
pedigree, "ux. ... Bellingham of Bromley, co. Linc."
http://books.google.com/books?id=65srAA ... #PPA229,M1
As such, her parents were Samuel Backhouse and his wife Elizabeth,
daughter of John Borlase of Marlow, Bucks.; and her grandparents were
Nicholas Backhouse and his wife Anne, daughter of Thomas Curson of
Croxhall, Derbyshire. Has she been included in lists of armigerous
immigrants to New England?
Possibly the wife of John Borlase, and mother of Elizabeth, was Anne
Lytton, who would have some lines of royal descent ...
http://books.google.com/books?id=wHZcIR ... 1-PA458,M1
Note that Elizabeth (Backhouse) Bellingham's sister Mary was wife of
William Standen of Arberfield. This was the same family that was
disputing several manors with Edward Bullock, gent., of New England
(and later London).

Re: Royal ancestry/ arms for Elizabeth (Backhouse) Bellingha
Richard and Elizabeth's son Samuel Bellingham is known to have married
the widow Elizabeth Savage about 1695 ...
http://books.google.com/books?id=sCQlAA ... e%22+widow
Someone speculated that her maiden name was Watts ...
http://books.google.com/books?id=BYwLo2 ... e%22+watts
Doubtless this was because her will mentioned her brother Edward Watts
and wife Rebecca (of London). But the same will also mentioned her
sister Mary Smith:
http://books.google.com/books?id=CWdqgr ... e%22+watts
The IGI marriages below imply she might have been nee Elizabeth Smith,
and widow of Nathaniel Savage.
Saint James Dukes Place, London
--Nathaniell Savage to Elizabeth Smith, 14 Feb. 1683
--Edward Watts to Rebecca Smith, 21 Dec. 1690
--Samuell Billingham to Elizabeth Savage, 18 April 1695

I
It seems possible there are New England descendants of Edward and
Rebecca Watts, as Elizabeth Bellingham's will mentions "Edward Watts
alias Bellingham Watts Son to my Brother Edward and Rebecca Watts":
http://books.google.com/books?id=DoQCHL ... m+watts%22
There are later references to persons named Bellingham Watts.
