Mediaeval tombs in North Germany

Dear All

I have been in North Germany for a few days, visiting various Hanse
towns and former ducal residences. Amongst other places, I called in
at Wismar, and photographed in the church of St Nicholas:

(1) the tomb of the Sophia of Pomerania (d 1504), wife of Duke Magnus
II of Mecklenburg-Schwerin.

I also stopped off at Bad Doberan, and in the Minster there (the
ancestral burial place of the Mecklenburg ducal family) I took photos
of the effigy-tombs of:

(2) Margaret of Pomerania (d 1282), wife of King Christopher of
Denmark
(3) Albert, King of Sweden & Duke of Mecklenburg ( d 1412), and his
wife
(4) Richardis of Schwerin (d 1377) [actually buried in Stockholm].

Unfortunately, the Cathedral at Guestrow was closed (on Sunday
afternoon), and I was unable to get to that at Schwerin, although I
did see the Palace, which is remarkable.

I remain happy to forward copies to anyone interested; those taken at
Bad Doberan may be a little dark, as no flash photography was
permitted.

Regards, Michael
