Ughtred of Scarborough

Hi all,

The CP account of the barony of Ughtred starts with Sir Robert Ughtred
of Scarborough, ( - 1310) the father of Sir Thomas Ughtred (1292 -
1365) the first Lord Ughtred.

I have found several references to the Ughtred family of Scarborough
in the preceding century, starting with a Roger son of Hughtred de
Scardeburg (presumably the progenitor of the Ughtred family) who
appears in the Calendar of Patent Rolls between 1253 and 1265 as a
burgess of Scarborough.

This Roger was, I assume, the grandfather of Sir Robert Ughtred, and
the father of Robert de Scarborough, Dean of St Peter's, York, who
died in 1291.

So there are one or two generations missing between Roger son of
Hughtred and Sir Robert Ughtred. Does anyone have any idea on the
intervening generation(s)?

Regards,

John
