Google Map Integration

Legg inn av rgurganus@citidc.com » 02 mai 2007 01:21:07

Hello everyone. I'm updating my genealogy website (http://
http://www.gurganus.org/ourfamily) to include integration with Google Maps.
This includes 24,600+ royal, medieval, and pre-medieval people.

So for any pedigree or descendant chart, you can click a "Map It"
button to show the same thing plotted on a map, provided the people
have identifiable places. If several generations are bunched together
in the same location it might not be that helpful, but for others
where generations migrate to neighboring counties or countries, I
think the map gives a good idea of where the family moved, showing
lines connecting the generations.

This is currently limited to the US, England, Scotland, Wales, and
Ireland. I'm working on France, and then eventually the rest of
Europe and other countries.

If you have any information to add or correct, you can register on the
site and add your own additions or submit corrections to me.

Feedback welcome!

How do you do this google map integration? I made some maps showing
ancestral origins of my family, and I'd like to "integrate" them too.

You might want to work on integrating your personalities before moving
on to maps ...

Well, I mean, the heiffer did accuse me of having Asspurger's
syndrome, on the basis of my having made a single tasteless joke about
the Virginia Tech killings. What is the USA coming to if you can't
make a few tasteless jokes now and then? Tasteless jokes are what
this country was founded on.
