For those of you interested in the ancestry of Catherine Baillon, I
direct your attention to the following article that was just published:
John P. DuLong, "Correction of Catherine Baillon's Grimaldi Ancestry,"
Michigan's Habitant Heritage (the Journal of the French-Canadian
Heritage Society of Michigan) 28, no. 2 (April 2007):53-63.
My article corrects a mistake we made in Catherine Baillon's Grimaldi of
Antibes ancestry. The Grimaldi of Beuil ancestry stands intact. I also
present some information about her other ancestors from Genoa.
You can order this issue of Michigan's Habitant Heritage for $6.25 from
the French-Canadian Heritage Society of Michigan, P. O. Box 1900, Royal
Oak, MI 48068-1900.

This is more good news, John. I was wondering if you might know whether
the price is the same for Canadian residents.

Re: Correction to Catherine Baillon's Grimaldi Ancestry
Thanks for asking Roger. I talked to the ladies that run the
French-Canadian Heritage Society of Michigan (I might be the President
of the FCHSM, but I am really not in charge) and they report that the
price is $6.25 USA for everyone. So you are going to have to get a
foreign draft made up for that amount in American dollars. I use
International Currency Express at http://www.foreignmoney.com/. I
presume they would handle Canadian dollars converted into American dollars.

Re: Correction to Catherine Baillon's Grimaldi Ancestry
Just a quick note to say I've put my order in the mail for this
article-it's good to see new information about Catherine's ancestry is
coming out; and also to say I today received a copy of Memoires with the
Amiot/Longueval article. Yves has done a wonderful job with it, and now
if I can get my hands on the Adela of Blois book that Peter Stewart
mentioned, you might not here from me again!

I hope that Adela will leave you some time for Catherine - be warned,
LoPrete's book is xx + 663 pages, with almost half of the words in
footnotes. Few enough 11th-12th-century figures have been studied so
thoroughly, much less women. Unfortunately it is expensive in proportion to
its length (US $95).
