YKS Feet of Fines

I am looking for an entry in Feet of Fines, Yorks., 9 Edw. II, no. 30,
where Thomas son of Walter de Stokesby quitclaimed lands in Yorkshire to
Roger Dammory and William de Barneby. What is critical for me is the
exact wording of the names and relationships. If someone has this
entry, I would be most appreciative. (For what it's worth, it is also
repeated, according to VCH, in Kirkby's Inq. (Surt Soc.), 324.)

Thank you

There are no relationships stated in the list as printed in Kirkby's Inquest
(1867) - this is available on Google Books at

In case you don't have access to this, the list in two columns has in the
left:

"Thoraldethorp cum
Flatwath"

and in the right:

"Willelmus de Ros de Yolton,
Rogerus Damory et Wil-
lelmus de Barneby."

This can be found in the recently published Michael Roper (ed.) 'Feet
of Fines for the County of York, 1314-1326, (Yorkshire Archaeological
Society, 2006), p.13
However the entries take the form of abstracts and are not transcribed
verbatim.

"68. Roger Damory, quer. (by Henry de Chelreye), and Thomas son of
Walter Stokesby, imped., of the manor of Thoraldesthorp. Warranty of
charter. Roger's right as of Thomas's gift. Thomas for himself and his
heirs has remitted and quitclaimed to Roger and his heirs and will
warrant. For 100 marks of silver.
[CP25/1/270/89, no. 30]'

There is another fine relating to Joan widow of Walter Stokesby if you
are interested.

Cheers

Rosie

Hi Peter

Thanks so much. The entry explains some things, but I guess the Fine
must have the rest of the information. Thanks again.

Alan
