All hallows data

Thanks for clarification about the records of All Hallows. My ancestor's brass (Roger James) is at All Hallows having survived the destructions. I also have ancestors from Southwark and know these records are at the London Metropolitan, so must apologize for my misinformation.

It's not unreasonable to think that they would also be available at
the London Metropolitan Archives (formerly the GLRO) but according to
their information sheet on family history, the parish register copies
for the City of London are at the Guildhall Library. So much for
joined up government!

It's just as easy to access them at the Guildhall [apart from the lack
of any evening opening hours] and it tends to be less busy that the
LMA - plus they loan you pencils for free! According to their
information leaflets, they are about to start a digitisation process,
so in the not-too-distant future hopefully a range of London wills and
parish register material will be available online.

Best wishes, Michael
