It is often stated that Roger Cave, Gent of Stanford d 1586 by his
wife Margaret Cecil had a number of children, among whom a *third son*
was Cecil Cave who married Anne Bennett.

Anne was daughter of that Anthony Bennett, esq of East Greenwich, Kent
who died between 19 Jun 1618 and 8 Jul 1622. The first date
represents the last document I have, which happens to be a marriage
settlement where he is a party, and the last date is the date an
Inventory of his goods was taken.

One of the daughters of Cecil Cave by Anne Bennett is widely reported
to have been Abigail Cave who m1 Henry Tresham of Newton, and m2
William Lord Shephard Baron Leytrim. he died 1640, She was buried 28
Feb 1655/6.

I had not recognized until today the significance of her description
as "Eldest daughter and Co-heiress [of her father]"

I DO just happen to have another girl who could be her sister. And
that is, that Anne Cave who m 30 Jan 1620/1 to William Tufton of
Vintners in Boxley and Norwood in Milton, Name Governor of Barbados
where he died in 1650. She predeceased him probably in 1649 and
probably died while still in England. Together they had a daughter
Vere Tufton who m Thomas Beaumont, 3rd Bart of Gracedieu.

However although Anne Cave's father is named as "Cecil Cave" he is
called "of Leicestershire". While Cecil Cave the father of Abigail is
generally stated to have been of Stanford, Northants and also of
Greenwich, Kent (jure uxoris).

I have looked at many sources trying to find that *one* source which
will categorically state that Anne and Abigail were sisters or
something of that sort. Does anyone have something on this?

Thanks
Will Johnson
