Can I trust this Baron of Kendal reference?

Using books.google.com (with http://www.proxify.com) I find the following text in
the Gentleman's magazine of 1848, in a passage concerning the Brougham
family of Westmorland:-

"his name appears on the 'oblata roll' of the 2nd of John, preserved in the
Tower of London, amongst the Drenges of Westmoreland - 'Walter de Harcla,'
'Tailboys Baron of Kendal,' 'John de Morvill,' and 'Gilbert de Brogham.'"

At that time, the Baron of Kendal, argued by William Farrer to be the first
ever, was Gilbert Fitz Reinfrid, who owed at least part of this position to
his marriage to the heir of the de Lancasters, who it is known claimed that
they were somehow Taillebois. Gilbert's heir William used the name "de
Lancaster" and his wife in grants claim that her ancestors had used the name
Tailboys.

But it would be remarkable to see the Barony referred to as a Tailboys
Barony!? This could indicate that the Barony really had existed in a
continuous line since Ivo?

To be honest I have never even heard of the oblata roll. What is it?

Regards
Andrew
