Descents From Edward III For 1st Baron Belasyse of Worlaby (

The senior line of the Belasyse family that descended from Edward III
entered the ranks of the peerage, first as Baronets, then as Barons,
Viscounts, and eventually Earls of Fauconberg.

Two of the more interesting senior line descendants are John Belasyse,
1st Baron Belasyse of Worlaby, Lincs. (1614-1689), who served as
Governor of Tangier from April 1665 to 1666, and his only son, Sir
Henry Belasyse, K.B., who in 1667 was mortally wounded in a drunken
duel with one of his closest friends, witnessed by famous London
diarist Samuel Pepys.

The 1st Baron has only 4 lines of descent from Joan Beaufort, but
several other Edward III descents which don't pass thru her. His son
Sir Henry even has a possible Henry VIII descent thru his mother Jane
Boteler. These Belasyses are well covered in 'Plantagenet Roll' by
Ruvigny and Peerage works for any interested in going further
forward. The male line of Sir William Belasyse and Margaret Fairfax
became extinct at the death of the 7th Viscount Fauconberg in 1815.
None of the male descendants emigrated out of Britain.

Joan Beaufort, Countess of Westmorland (c.1379-1440) had 3 daughters
