Does anyone here have any information on the pedigree of Anne Dutton,
mistress of Sir Thomas Gresham and mother of Anne Gresham, wife of
Nathaniel Bacon?

Thanks in advance.

Yours,

Jeffrey Gibson

Jeffery can you cite your source for "Anne Dutton"?
I note that here
http://www.stirnet.com/HTML/genie/briti ... sham01.htm
they state "partner unknown" for this woman.

Thanks Jeffrey, it's very useful to know what the new DNB article
states and to have their list of sources.

I would say that it would be useful to try to fill out the life of
this Sir Thomas Gresham a bit more. His father was Richard Gresham,
the Lord Mayor of London in 1537 who died 1548 at Bethnel Green.
Thomas' mother Audrey Lynn died while Thomas was a small child. Does
anyone know if and who Richard married next ?

I have three siblings for this Thomas: John, Elizabeth and Christian.

It would be useful also to know if Thomas was the heir of his father.
Sir Thomas Gresham is called "of Osterly Park" I think this may be in
Middlesex as his wife Anne Fernley died at "Osterly HOUSE in
Middlesex" 23 Nov 1596

They had a son named Richard Gresham. Any and all of these wills
*may* mention the illegimate daughter in such a way that her uncles
can be identified.

So what I'd do is maybe trawl Procat and A2A for any mention of Thomas
Gresham.
