A rather interesting example of misleading information
is demonstrated by Ormerod and the Lancashire
Inquisitions (Towneley/Dodsworth).

(1) Ormerod concluded in the family pedigree that
Lawrence Warren's wife was Margery (daughter) of Hugh
Bulkley of Wore, and was not the daughter of Richard
Bulkley of Cheadle. Both conclusions were incorrect.

(2) Lancashire Inquisitions (Towneley/Dodsworth)
confused the issue in the Inquisition title of
"Margayeta que fuit uxor Joh'is le Maynwaryng".
Margaret was in fact the wife of John Warren (not John
Mainwaryn). John Warren was the grandfather of
Lawrence Warren.

Lancashire Inquisitions continued to puzzle the reader
by quoting that the home town of Richard Bulkley Esq
was "Shoadley" or "Oure" Co. Salop. Presumably the
writer intended "Soudley" or "Woore" Co Salop.

Thus the correct information in this Inquisition
advised that 1418 Lawrence Warren (s) (h) Nicholas (s)
John Warren kt (aged 24) was married to Margery
Bulkley (d) Richard Bulkley Esq of Soudley or Woore
Co. Salop.

Do you think someone just made this up, and whacked it into olde
ffashioned spellinge for the fun of it? Have you ever heard of a
person marrying more than once? You may well wish to consider
whether, for instance, Margaret married John Warren AND John
Mainwaring.

Another temptation I am going to resist.

As you get slightly more advanced in your studies, you might just
discover that folk in the Middle Ages didn't spell names the same way
as we do today - just a thought.
