Dear Fellow List Members,
Among the various Documents ON-line
on or at least through A2A`s global search is the following:
Anderton (Supplemental) Deeds ref. D/D
AN/Bundle 31/183
Indenture 18 August 2 Edward VI (1547 /48)
The Parties having agreed to stand to the award
of Edmund Atherton, gentleman of Winstanley and Humfray Sheryngton of Wigan,
mercer by the advice of James Browne of London haberdasher (causes not
definitely stated) the arbitrators award that Arthur Ince, Gentleman pay to Miles
Gerrarde, Esq of Ince 10 marks by installment (dates stated) They empower Myles
to enter on the landsin case of non-payment and hold the Stresse taken
Edmund
Humfray
James Browne

It is tempting to think that this Edmund Atherton was the father of
Humphrey and grandfather of the Edmund Atherton who died in 1613 and was father
of Major Humphrey Atherton. Any thoughts on this ?
Sincerely,
James W Cummings
Dixmont, Maine USA
