Note N87-1611 says, "That Charles [Chewte] married a Cheney is on the
Hampshire Rolls." Does anybody know what the Hampshire Rolls are?

Dumb question. One of the Chute parchment pedigrees is presumably at
"The Vyne" estate in Hampshire (the other being in America).

The American version gives "Chang" rather than "Cheny,'' but that
could be an understandable mistake, depending on vagaries of
handwriting.

The Chute pedigrees formerly at The Vyne are now held at the Hampshire
Record Office in Winchester. Details of the index references with
short descriptions may be found on their online database ("CALM")
which has a search facility:

http://calm.hants.gov.uk/DServeA/search.htm

Typing in *Chute* and *Pedigree* (or alternatively *Pedigrees*) on a
combined words in fields search should yield the desired results.

Note that this facility does not have copies of the underlying
documents, just descriptions and accession details. I shall be going
to the Record Office in a couple of weeks' time if anyone needs a look-
up.
