In the "Lives of the Speakers of the House of Commons"

http://content.ancestry.com/Browse/view ... gskw=&cr=1

In the Parliament of 1460 the author states that Henry Beaumont, son
and heir of Sir Henry Beaumont complained that his mother Joan was
abducted, after the death of her husband Henry Beaumont, by Edward
Lancaster of Skipton in Craven, Esq.

I would identify Joan with Joan Heronville, stated as wife of Sir
Henry /Beaumont/ , Knt of Thorpe-in-Balne, co York born 1411 "second
son" died 1446/7

Line 17, pg 26</a>

So presumably their son Henry was an adult by 1460

I had had this same Joan married also to Charles Noel, as a later
husband, but obviously he must be a *third* or later husband as the
complaint is specific in that Edward *married* Joan.

So who is this Edward? Leo does not appear to have him.

I can't answer the question about Edward Lancaster in the heading of this
thread, but here are some references to further information on the marriages
of Joan Heronville.

Joan Heronville and her (2nd) husband Sir Henry Beaumont are covered in some
detail in a chapter on the Beaumonts of Wednesbury in "Massachusetts and
Maine Families in the Ancestry of Walter Goodwin Davis", by Walter Goodwin
Davis (1996 ed., 3 vols.). They are also covered more briefly in
Richardson's "Plantagenet Ancestry". Joan's first marriage was to William
Leventhorpe and her third marriage was to Charles Nowell [or Noel]. Both
sources mention the abduction of Joan and the supposed "marriage" to Edward
Lancaster, which was apparently invalid because it was coerced.

BTW, the cited URLs below appear to be accessible only if you have a
subscription to Ancestry.com - and thus are about as useful as the posting
of context-less URLs that has been discussed at some length the past few
days. The only saving grace of these URLs is that they do give some clue as
to the source being cited - even if you can't access them.
