Dear John Brandon:

You posed an interesting question:

" Is my interest only the Bulkley Family?"

I imagine that my answer is yes. I lack time, and just
one family appears a horrendous challenge. The other
reason is that although I admire all you people
possessing knowledge of so many families with such
facility, I am not clear what benefit that knowledge
possesses. The information seems mainly one of names
and dates which does not appeal to me at all.

What fascinates me is to understand what ancestors
have or have not accomplished, their skills and
interests, their involvement in the community, and how
they managed to survive. Names of children, marriage
dates, and the like is not of much interest.

I suspect that our nature and character descends from
our ancestors. Generation after generation repeat
themselves which suggest a genetic influence. If that
idea makes sense, clearly an understanding of our
ancestors is beneficial in understanding ourselves and
our children.

Yes - there are a number of other families that
interest me due to marriage.

Thus for the Cheshire Line - the Ripariis (Redvers)
family, The Popham family.

For the Lancashire/Yorkshire Line - the Lascy family,
the Samlesbury family, and the Kendall Family (if
connected).

For the London/Essex/Kent Line - the merchant families
of Ghent, Rouen, Danzig, and Florence.

Of course all my theories could go up in smoke - in
the meantime it is an interesting challenge.

Finally I am dull witted - I would jump off a cliff if
I tackled another family.

Sincerely Yours,

Paul Bulkley

But you did not answer my other question ("Can you trace your Bulkley
line back to this time period?")--which I suspect might be more
revealing. If you _cannot_, in fact, your unsupported speculation
would become "unsupported and also quite meaningless."
