Rogers family of Bryanston

The construction of a medieval lineage is a fraught exercise, and at
present I am trying to clarify some elements of the history of the
Rogers family of Bryanston, Dorset.

Firstly, I wonder if anyone would be able to outline exactly how and
when John Rogers (d.1441) came into possession of the manor of
Bryanston. This must have been after 1410, when it appears that he was
a feoffee for the estate on behalf of Thomas Lovell (see CPR 12 Hen IV,
m.25), and before 1428--29, when he is described as of Bryanston in the
transfer of the manor of Benham Valence, Berks, to his younger son John
Rogers (see Exchequer Records, Series BX E 327/740, 7 Hen VI), but as
yet I am unable to find out definitively how he acquired the manor. Was
it by straight purchase and not by inheritance?

Secondly, this John Rogers is said to have married Agnes de Mercaunt and
to have been the son of John fitz Rogers and Elizabeth Furneaux. Is
anyone able to identify the documentation for these relationships,
especially considering his supposed mother was elderly, to say the least?

Lastly, I notice that many say that Thomas Rogers of Bradford,
Wiltshire, who married (1) Cecily Bessills and (2) Catherine de
Courtenay, was a son of a Thomas Rogers of Ashington, who in turn was a
son of John Rogers of Bryanston. Can anyone cite the evidence of those
linkages?

I would be most grateful for any clarification at all.
