Dugdale's Monasticon Anglicanum

Dear Nat Taylor:

Thank you for your advise.

Regret I have no knowledge of the data you are quoting
from the Web.

I think my question is quite clear. It refers to the
first volume printed and presumably published about
1656. I am interested to learn of any opinion of the
accuracy of Dugdale's work.

Sincerely yours,

Paul Bulkley

The first edition of Monasticon Anglicanum was written entirely in
Latin, sources and commentary alike, and since you cannot read a work
in that language you are never going to be troubled by any
inaccuracies in it. Your second-hand opinions are every bit as silly
and misinformed as your own.

When I first pointed this out some years ago I was abused by several
SGM readers for my allegedly intemperate response. I wonder if any of
them have now thought again....
