age of advocate

Hello All,
I am wondering if anyone has any idea at the age a male would be to become
an Advocate ?
Would 14 be too young?
Unfortunately I can't be certain of the person I am trying to 'sort out'
date of birth.
I notice in the archives he has been mentioned as he is Ralph of Aalst,
father of Gilbert de Ghent.
Thanks
Louise

It is not possible to work out the age of Ralph exactly as we don't possess
the evidence for this.

He was probably the son of his predecessor as advocate of St Peter's abbey,
another Ralph, and he married a sister of Countess Otgiva of Flanders who
was born by the mid-990s. He was perhaps in his 30s or even 40s when he
became advocate in the early 1030s, and lived until at least 1052, maybe
until 1056.
