The Visitation of Hertfordshire 1572 on page 52 "Fairclough"
http://books.google.com/books?vid=OCLC2 ... A2-PA52,M1
Shows that Thomas Fairclough and his wife Millicent Barr (or Barre)
had as eldest son John who married Anne, da of Thomas Spencer of
Cople, Bedf and this last couple had a number of children which the
Visitation enumerates.
I was meandering about checking on various "Dorothy whoever's" living
in Goldington and stumbled on the full list of baptisms for John and
(presumbly) Anne which I give here
http://countyhistorian.com/cecilweb/ind ... _Faircloth
Hopefully this additional specification can solve a few more
chronological questions.

It appears that stirnet doesn't yet cover Spencer of Cople,
Bedfordshire.
I've started a tentative posting here
http://www.countyhistorian.com/cecilweb ... r_of_Cople
which presumes (perhaps incorrectly) a connection between two
different Spencer's.
Anne Spencer who married John Fairclough of Cople, is given as a
daughter of a Thomas Spencer of Cople. Anne and John begin having
children in 1572 and end in 1588.
In addition to Anne, there is also a Robert Spencer of Cople who
*also* begins having children in 1572 and ends in 1590.
So I've made these two Anne, and Robert, into siblings here

In 1634 Robert's wife is shown as Rhose, dau of ....Cokain of Cokain

Robert Spencer has an interesting burial entry in Cople parish
register in the year 1620:
"Mr Robert Spencer Esquire a gentleman of an ancient house, of a sober
and religious conversation, friendly unto all, liberal in
housekeeping, and bountiful to the poor, departed this life the 4th
December and was buried the day following, having lived 53 years in
marriage estate, being about the age of 87 years"
Mrs Rose Spencer, widow, was buried at Cople on 1 June 1629.
There are burials at Goldington St Mary the Virgin of an Ann
Faercloughe on 10 Nov 1589 and of a John Faercloughe on 24 June 1592.
I can send you full details of the Visitations if you are interested,
and I have copies of earlier Spencer wills too (Thomas Spencer's
sister Rose was my 12xg grandmother).
