Constable of Lazenby [possibly of Halsham?]

A pedigree of the family of Place of Dinsdale and Halnaby in Surtees' Durham, 3:237 shows Christopher Place [the younger] of Dinsdale (d. Feb. 1623/4, one month after his father, another Christopher) as mar. ca. 1616 to Mary, daughter of John Constable of Lazenby. I can't presently connect this Constable family to either of the better known Constable families of Yorkshire (of Flamborough and of Halsham, later Burton Constable).. I suspect, however, that there may be a connection to the Halsham family, as Clay's edition of Dugdale's visitation of Yorkshire shows a younger son of this family, Ralph Constable of Thirntoft, as mar. to a dau. of Christopher Lasenby [sic] of Whitwell, Richmondshire. The descent from this Ralph is carried forward rather sketchily for a few generations, but not sufficiently to make the connection above.

Can anyone connect Constable of Lazenby to Halsham (or another Constable branch)?

Hi John,

William Hutchinson's History and Antiquities of the County Palatine of
Durham, Vol 3, p 147 has a pedigree of Place of Egton and Dinsdale
from St George Norroy's visitation which shows Christopher Place the
younger, married to "Maria fil. Joh. Constable de Lazonby".

The same volume, page 431 says that John Constable of Lasenby was
buried in the chancel of All Saints, Northallerton in 1619, but gives
no further information on him. I assume then, that the Lazenby in
question is the hamlet of Lazenby (Lazenby Hall) about 4 miles from
Northallerton and not the one in the parish of Wilton.

Regards,

John
