Sue thank you for your additional notes. I'm interested in connecting your
Dr Henry Hickman to his parents who you supplied as Anthony Hickman and Rose
Locke.

Can you tell me what source gives us this? And also Rose's next husband
Throckmorton? I have a lot of Throckmorton's and would like to connect her to the
right one.

Thanks

Hi Will

Leo has Henrye Hickman (ie Doctor Hickman) on his site. The Hickman
genealogy can also be found here
http://www.stirnet.com/HTML/genie/briti ... ckman1.htm
and other branches here
http://www.stirnet.com/HTML/genie/briti ... ckman2.htm

The main source is Maddison's Lincolnshire Pedigrees 1906 (Hickman of
Gainsborough).

Rose Locke (wife of Anthony Hickman and later of Simon Throckmorton)
was an early autobiographer. Her reminiscences are in the British
Library http://www.genesis.ac.uk/archive.jsp?ty ... =1&pk=2390
but they wanted to charge me ?40 for a copy (which was a bit more than
I could afford). However I recently obtained an article based on her
writings from the University of London which was much more affordable.
Joy Shakespeare and Maria Dowling
Religion and politics in mid-Tudor England through the eyes of an
English Protestant woman: the recollections of Rose Hickman. lv.
94-102. (May 1982)

I have also bought a book called Religion & Society in Early Modern
England edited by David Cressy and Lori Anne Ferrell. This has a
chapter about Rose and Anthony Hickman.

Somewhere in my files I remember putting that Henry Hickman was a
noted academic not a medical doctor but I can't lay my hands on that
at the moment so can't remember the source and know little about him.
He was married to Anne Wallop and his daughter Elizabeth Hickman
married Sir Henry Clinton-Fiennes (one of the younger sons of the 2nd
Earl of Lincoln by his second wife Elizabeth Morrison). I see Leo has
the marriage if you go via Henry Clinton (alias Fynes) but not via
Elizabeth Hickman. However the Hickman and Fiennes families were
linked by being Lincolnshire neighbours and a Hickman bought the
Gainsborough house from a Fiennes.

Elizabeth Hickman married Henry Clinton Fiennes 2 MAR 1624 in
Gainsborough, Lincs, England. He already had children by a previous
wife.
Children of Elizabeth and Henry were
Penelope Fiennes-Clinton b: 1625 in Kirkstead, Lincs, England
Bridget Fiennes-Clinton b: 1627 in Kirkstead, Lincs, England
Mary Fiennes-Clinton b: 1629 in Kirkstead, Lincs, England
Elizabeth Fiennes-Clinton b: 1631 in Kirkstead, Lincs, England
William Fiennes-Clinton b: 1635 in Kirkstead, Lincs, England
Arthur Fiennes-Clinton b: 1637 in Kirkstead, Lincs, England
Ellen Fiennes-Clinton b: 1639 in Kirkstead, Lincs, England

I have not seen the original parish records for those personally but a
number of fellow Fiennes/Fines researchers and I have been adding to
databases of information and this has been added by someone who has I
believe. I am descended from Arthur Fiennes-Clinton.

Best wishes
Sue
