TOKE Family

Legg inn av Maree Posthuma » 10 feb 2007 13:35:19

Hello again everyone,
I am at a loss - can SKS please tell me where or what I should be looking up to obtain birth and marriage records of the TOKE family of Godinton. I am trying to find the descent of John TOKE of Godinton who supposedly died 1565 in Great Chart.

This is my first time trying to do research in this time frame. I have checked A2A with very little but now I have no idea where I should look next. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards
Maree

Step 1 is to see if the anyone of that name is in any Visitation, use

http://www.achievements.co.uk/services/arm/index.php

Step 2 is to download the two pages:

Be warned that this will not give you birth and marriage records. Han
around a bit on this newsgroup and you will find how much detective work
is needed to get anywhere ear a birth or marriage date.

Be further warned that there is not guaranteed that the earlier
generations are accurate; they could just have been copied off a bit of
scrap paper that someone might have brought along to an interview.

But this will give you loads of names to search for and hopefully verify
in other records.
