Can anyone shed any light on Rudolph KIFT who is listed as a witness c.
1243 (Kilkenny / Kilmoganny, Ireland)?

"Circa 1243 - John fitz Geoffrey, lord of Kells, grants to William
Coterel and his heirs for ever Kilmegene (Kilmoganny) in free socage,
with mountain and wood, extending in length from the cave of Letter,
and from Corbally up to the water of Gortneslie; and in breadth from
Karreenemo (Garrandynas, part of the townland of Rossenara) up to the
water that runs between Kilmegene and Avene (Rossenara, anciently
known as Owny); paying a mark of silver yearly. Witnesses: Sir John
Flemeng, Sir Henry son of Henry, Martin Coterel, Thomas de sancto
Johanne (? Albino), John de Ken, Hugh Devenese, Rudolph Kift, William
Ogelay, Simon the clerk. (Editor's note: Lettercorbally appears in
ancient documents as an alias for Castlehale (townland), now the
townland of Rossenara demesne, in the parish of Kilmoganny). [#732,
dated by the editor as ? Circa 1340] "

I am researching North Devon KIFT/KIEFT/KIFF family history and am
currently trying to see whether I can connect the North Devon KIFTs to
the Hertfordshire KIFFs and the Oystermouth (Welsh) KIFTs and am
currently back to the late 1500s. The above information about Rudolph
KIFT has recently been brought to my attention and I am curious to
discover what a KIFT was doing in Ireland. From some very brief
internet searching I have discovered the Cambro-Norman Invasion of
Ireland and wonder whether this would have been the cause of Rudolph
being in Ireland.

Any help about him, or any other early KIFTs would be very much
appreciated.
