During a detailed study of the Norwoods of Leckhampton, I found
that they were descended from Sir John de Etton as shown by
Ralph Norwoods' ownership of Egmanton property in the following inquisitions:

IPM of Richard Caxton, Tuxford, 9 Nov. 1532
IPM of Sir Hugh Hastings, Egmanton, died 9 Dec. 1540
IPM of Sir William Hollys, Egmanton, died 20 Oct. 1542

The Complete Peerage under Everingham vol. 5 p.189+ says that
John de Etton's son Miles died before him and the 4 granddaughters
then became coheirs. Along with descendants of his wife's sister,
"Among their representatives any hereditary Barony,
that may have supposed to have been created by the writ of 1309,
is in abeyance".

The senior line came down through the Constables as shown in CP.
Apparently the CP authors didn't know about the Norwoods of Leckhampton
(Not finding a connection to the earlier Northwood lines of Kent)
but shows limited descents from the other 3 granddaughters.
Since there are hundreds, if not thousands of Norwoods in USA, I am curious
as to the state of the other 3 lines (assuming the Constables descendants exist).
I can find some to the 1500's but not further (see below).
I wonder if anyone else has any knowledge of the Barony or the other lines.
