Ancestry of Dorothy (Brereton) FitzWilliam

I had sent the below privately to Leo via his weblink (I really wish I could
link the two FitzWilliam families to each other!)

Proposed Change: Brereton Dorothy (I00247160)
Tree: Leo

Description: At this point see
<a href =
"http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~heveningham/page23.html">"Notes on Staffordshire Families" - (Staffordshire Historical Society),
William Salt Library, Stafford

which states "co-heir to her mother" and
dau of Richard /Brereton/ of Malpas, Cheshire
by Mary /Heveningham/

which this Mary dau of Walter /Heveningham/ , Knt 1619 of Pipe Hall, Stafford
by Ann /FitzHerbert/ dau of William /FitzHerbert/
----------------------------------------
In tracing *up* the tree for Dorothy there are some interesting surprises
Her mother Mary Heveringham "of Ipstones Hall" holding in joincture married
secondly Sylvester Plunkett

Mary's parents were as above, Walter who was buried at Lichfield Cathedral
and Ann.

Ann's father given as William FitzHerbert about whom NOTHING else is stated,
much to my dismay as I wish I knew who he was.

However Walter Heveningham is the son of Christopher (born 1532/6) who is
called "apparently the only child" of Erasmus Heveningham (b abt 1515, fifth son)
by his wife Mary Moyle. Mary is called a "considerable heiress", her own
mother being Isabel Stanley "ultimately sole heiress of her father".

Isabel Stanley's father was Sir John Stanley of Pipe "heir of his mother"
His mother being Helen Lee "heiress of her father"
who was Sir James Lee of Aston in Stone, Staffs.

Whew. Ok after all that linear climbing I'm left with this long limb
sticking into... nothing.
Can anyone connect Sir James Lee.. OR sir John Stanley... OR Walter Moyle 'of
Kent'... to anyone ?

Leo doesn't have any of this data, so I'm not sure if maybe this family was
just too obscure.

Will,

I'm confused. Are these FitzHerberts or FitzWilliams? (your text
states FitzHerbert but the RE states FitzWilliam).
