Morley and Hastings lines for the Reymeses and Brewsters?

In his Genealogical Thoughts #43, GBR wrote the following:

Henry Hoff has also undertaken considerable work on the ancestry of
Mrs. Abigail Brewster Burr of Conn. (Henry is descended from Roosevelts
and Latrobes, but from only a possible, and perhaps doubtful, younger
sister of Mrs. Burr - Sarah, wife of Jonathan Smith of Smithtown).
Abigail, her possible sister Sarah, and their brother John (whose later
history is unknown) were children of Rev. Nathaniel Brewster of
Brookhaven, L.I. (husband secondly, almost certainly, of Sarah Ludlow)
by his first wife, ---- Reymes, daughter of John and Frances (----)
Reymes, granddaughter of William Reymes and Anne Evans, and
great-granddaughter of William Reymes and Mary Payne, this last a
daughter of Thomas Payne and Elizabeth Boleyn, first cousin of Queen
Anne Boleyn. Both of Elizabeth Boleyn's parents were descendants of
Edward I; her father via Bohun and Butler, her mother via Seagrave,
Mowbray, Welles, and Tempest.

The Norfolk Visitation allows us to see that the grandparents of
William Reymes (who married Mary Payne) were "Roger Reymes of
Overstrond" and "Ann da. of Edmund Hastings" ...

An article on the Hastings family in _Norfolk Archaeology_ seems to
show that these Hastings-Reymes descendants would also have lines from
the Morley and Dinham families ..

Dear John,

I think you are onto something here.

I had not attempted to trace the Reymes link to date; the
Calthorpe descent from Anne Hastings appears sound.

We find 'Anne wyff to Rychard Calthorpe.' among the issue of
Edmund Hastings of Hindringham [HSP 16:154-156, Vis. of Yorkshire:
pedigree of Hastynges]. He was not the same individual as Sir Edmund
Hastings of Roxby (prior pedigree in the HSP volume), as I mistakenly
thought some time ago. Edmund was party to, and grantee of, an
indenture of 10 May 17 Edw IV [1477]:

' Charter Indented - date: 1477
John Duke of Suffolk William Grey Bishop of Ely John
Lord de Denham and others by assent and will of Sir Hugh
Hastynges Robert Hastyngges and Edmund Hastyngges
sons of John Hastyngges, Esq dec'd to aforesaid Edmund
Hastyngges' - A2A, Norfolk Record Office: Hastings Family
of Gressenhall [ MR 301 242 x 5 ]

Edmund also assented to a grant to his brother Robert, in a
Charter Indented Tripartite dated 29 Apr. 17 Ed IV (1477):

' John. .. bishop of Ely John Lord Denham and others with assent
of Sir Hugh Hastyngges Kt Robert and Edmund Hastyngges sons
of John Hastyngges Esq dec'd to said Robert Hastyngges, Esq.
Manor of Monewedon (Suff).'
-A2A, Norfolk Record Office: Hastings Family of Gressenhall
[ MR 300 242 x 5 ]

At least confirming (if not proving) the relationship, we have the
Calthorpe pedigree in Bulwer (Vis. Norfolk, 1563), which gives in part:

' Anne, dau. of Edmund Hastings, 2 son of John Hastings of Elsing
and Gressenhall, Esq., by Eleanor, dau. of Sir Edward Wodehouse of
Kimberley, Knt. and widow of Robert Reymes of Overstarnd, Esq. (who
died 1508). She died 30 Mar. 1562. Buried at Antingham. ' [Vis.
Norfolk II:441]

Should I note anything additional that is relevant to this line
(of thought and descent), I will pass it on.

Cheers,

John
