CRANWELL of CRANWELL, Lincs.

Hi,

I am desparate for information on the family of CRANWELL from Cranwell
in Lincolnshire and, even after estensive searches both on Google and
at the National Archives and A2A catalogues I can find very little on
this family who go back to the village of Cranwell at least back as far
as the 14th century.

I do have a note of the Arms that we shown on the monument in St.
Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin to a Mrs. Cranwell who died in 1658 and
this is my only clue as to a connection with the family of Cranwell in
Lincs. The arms are described as thus . . .. "Ar. on. a fest betw.
three cranes close gu. a mural crown or." These arms are very similar
to that given for the family of Cranwell of Cranwell in co.
Lincolnshire whose arms were given as "Gu. three cranes close ar".
Cres: a crane close, ar. I believe this Mrs. Cranwell was probably
the wife of John Cranwell, Esq., Mayor of Dublin in 1662-1663.

Ideally, what I am looking for is a connection between the Dublin
Cranwells and those of Cranwell in Lincs. So, if anyone has any record
of the Lincolnshire family I would be very grateful of any info,
however small. Does anyone know if they appear in CP?

Thank You,
