Gov. John Winthrop certified the good health of Mrs. Sarah Sargent,
wife of William, and "late the wife of William Minshall of Whitchurch
in the county of Salop gent. Deceased" in 1639, per the Lechford
records:

Aspinwall has a similar statement recorded nine years later:

Whitchurch, Shropshire, records (from extracted IGI) contain two
Sargent marriages of interest:

--Rog. Sergant or Sargeant to Mary Griffies, 13 Jan. 1666
--Roger Sarjeant to Anne Kemp, 16 Jan. 1683

Roger Sargent was the father of William Sargent who married Sarah (---)
Minshull. The name Roger had entered the Sargent family through
Roger's mother, Margaret, sister of Roger Gifford. Are the Sargents at
Whitchurch possibly descendants of an elder son of William (who
remained behind in England), or of collateral relatives who removed to
Shropshire (and possible introduced William Sargent to his third wife,
Sarah)?
