Ashley descendants of Elizabeth (Camoys) (Hamlyn) Wake

Dear Newsgroup ~

I'm attempting to trace the descendants of Elizabeth Camoys, living
1431, heiress of Cranborne, Hampshire, who married (1st) Sir John
Hamlyn (or Hamelyn) (died 1398), of Wimborne St. Giles, Dorset, and
(2nd) Thomas Wake of Winterborne Stoke, Wiltshire.

According to VCH Hampshire, 3 (1908): 453-461, Elizabeth Camoys had one
daughter and heiress by her first husband, Egidia Hamlyn, who married
(1st) Robert Ashley, and (2nd) Sir Thomas Thame of Hampshire. Egidia
died in 1476. Before her death, Egidia had settled the manor of
Cranborne, Hampshire upon a certain Robert Ashley, probably her son,
and Isabel his wife. Robert, however predeceased Egidia, and in 1477
his widow Isabel was holding Cranborne as a free tenement for the term
of her life with reversion to Edmund Ashley, son and heir of Egidia,
and his heirs. In 1554 Henry Ashley, great-grandson of Edmund, sold the
reversion of the manor of Cranborne after the deaths of John Nicholson
of Cranborne and Alice his wife to John Twyne, yeoman, of Norton in the
parish of Wonston.

Additional information on the Ashley family can be found at these

The Ashley family is in the ancestry of the celebrated statesman, Sir
Anthony Ashley-Cooper, 1st Earl of Shaftesbury.

Does anyone have any further particulars on any of these people?

Best always, Douglas Richardson, Salt Lake City, Utah
