Polish Problem

King Boleslaw III King of Poland is father of Kazimierz II 'the Just', Duke of Sandomir etc.

Kazimierz II married about 1163 Helene von Znaim.
According to ES Freytag von Loringhoven (Volume II Tafewl 83) Kazimierz II was married only once and they had the following children

1164 a daugther who grew up and married
ca,1165 Kasimir
ca.1168 Boleslaw
1186 Leszek V
1187/88 Konrad I

This shows a huge gap between 1168 and 1186
----------------------------
ES Schwennicke Volume II Tafel 120
Here is shown Kazimierz II married ca. 1163 Helene von Znaim (only) and their children are to be found on Tafel 122.

On tafel 122 is indicated that the children of Kazimierz II are from two marriages :
From 1st
1164 daughter

after 1164 Kazimierz
ca.1168 Boleslaw

From 2nd
1186/87 Leszek

1187/88 Konrad
-----------------------------------------------------

Was Kazimierz II married only once, or twice? The huge gap in the years of birth makes a second marriage likely, but not necessarily so.

Does anyone know?

This Kazimierz is genealogically very interesting. He is an ancestor of Alexander Pushkin and Leo Tolstoi.

As well as Gilbert von Studnitz, Peter de Loriol, Andrew McEwen, Tim Powys-Lybbe and Kelsey Williams

As well as Lady Diana Spencer, Camilla Parker-Bowles, Sarah Ferguson and Sophie Rhys-Jones

And gateways Capt. John West, Herbert Pelham, Thomas Hamilton,m Anne Humphrey, Anne Boteler, Lady Christina Stewart, John Orr, James Boyd, Sarah Blair and many more.

With many thanks

These children were from a first marriage, to an unknown wife, according to
Wlodzimierz Dworzaczek in _Genealogia_ (Warsaw, 1959). The daughter was
married in 1178 to Vsevelod, grand prince of Kiev, and died before him,
probably in 1194. The two sons both died young, Kasimir as an infant on 2
March 1167, Boleslaw on 16 April 1182.

1186 Leszek V
1187/88 Konrad I

And these were from the second marriage, ca 1185/6, to Helena who may have
been daughter to Rostislav I Mikhail, prince of Smolensk or Konrad, prince
of Znaim.
