Greetings

I'm looking for any contemporary records that may establish a
relationship between the following :

Sir Henry de Bathe / Baa / Bathonia - Died late 1260 -
justice of the common pleas 1238 - 1251, senior justice of the king's
bench Temp. Henry III, Husband of Aline / Aliva (Sandford/Bassett ?).
The base of a tomb monument in Christchurch Cathedral Oxford may be his.

and

Sir Walter de Bathe / Baa / Bathonia - Died ? - sub sheriff
of Devon under Nicholas de Molis 1234 - 1236. High sheriff of Devon
1236 to Easter 1251 (exceptionally long shrievalty), Lord of Colebrooke,
Devon.

Other than the surname there is little but surmise to link
them ; Both had careers beginning at approximately the same time and
ending (temporarily) in early 1251, the possible reason being Henry's
fall from grace. Walter married a Giffard, Henry was raised to the
King's bench with Hugh Giffard.
Were they members of an extended, prosperous family that adopted
the name of lands they held in Devon and that may include the De Bathes
of Meath and Dublin, or did they individually take their names from the
town of Bath, Somerset ? I'd be interested in hearing your opinions.
