RCA, in his Great Migration sketch of John1 Coggan, mentions that
Coggan's widow, Martha, died under "circumstances ... not without
suspicion of poison" (citing NEHGR, 111:15).

A petition of Mrs. Margaret Sheaffe in the Massachusetts Archives makes
the positive claim that Martha's death was a suicide: "Mrs. Sheaffe
had paid the purchase-money to Mrs. Coggan before the latter, having
been left by the Lord 'to Satan's temptations, which was too strong for
her, made away with herself.'"
