National Archives/Documents Online has an early
Inquisition taken at Chester 1268 before Thomas de
Bolton Justice of Chester; also extracts from Plea
Rolls of Flintshire; and Inquisition taken at Flint
before P.Tiptoft Justice of Chester.

National Archives states that the documents are
fragmentary but give full details of the descent of
the possession of the manor of Ewloe between various
Welsh princes and the kings of England, and the
ensuring ousting of the Mouhauts from their lordship.

What is of interest are the number of Cheshire
individuals mentioned including Arderne, Patryk, Hyde,
Massy, Rideley, Shroston, Richard de Bulkelegh, Grey,
Helsby, Hudes, Donne, Chom -- (possibly Cholmondeley),
Bosceby, Lymme, Grosvenor, Boar, Venables, Monte Alto,
and Davenport.

Welsh individuals include Grufford ap Madok, Oweyn
(called Goeneth), David ap Oweyn, Llywelyyn ap
Gruffudd ap Llywelyn aap Lorwwerth.

The original document can be viewed - unfortunately
not adequate enough on my machine to analyse
carefully.

Is anyone acquainted with this Inquisition, and has
anyone any idea of the involvement of Richard de
Bulkilegh in the matters mentioned?
