is said to have married "abt 1388" to Beatrice Mallory "dau of Sir Anketine
Mallory of Kirby Mallory, Leics; Knight (d 1393) and Alice Dryby"
The line is then given forward as Richard Bagot, Esq of Blithfield "b abt
1387, d 1475/7", and, among other things, JP Staffs 1471-4. He was father of
Richard Bagot, Esq of Blithfield "b abt 1412 d 22 Aug 1485 at Bosworth". He
was father of
John Bagot "aged 41 and more in 1477"
----------------------------------------------
Assuming for the purposes of this email that this line is accurate, the dates
need a slight modification.
From previous discussions we know that Alice de Driby was a widow twice by
the time she married Anketil Mallory. Her second husband Ralph, Lord Basset of
Sapcote died 17 Jul 1378 and therefore that any child by her last marriage to
Anketil could not be born before Apr 1379
Even if we allow Beatrice to be the first child by this marriage, she could
not be a mother to a boy born in 1387.
It should also be noted, that its unlikely a man would be a JP when he was 85
years old.
We can push his birthrange forward, but not too far. His *grandson* John was
known to be "41 and more" in a a document dated 1477.
So I propose, given the assumption the line is accurate, that Richard have a
birthrage of 1393/1402. This allows him to be in his upper 60s to upper 70s
as a JP. And gives his son, also Richard, a birthrange of 1410/19. Allowing
John to be born in 1436.
We then see that Beatrice Mallory must have been born, rather precisely in
1379/1382, making her either the eldest child, or the second child I would
imagine.
