That Mary de Ros married firstly William, Lord Braose
Secondly Ralph de Toeni d 1295

William, Lord Braose was significantly older than Mary and for his death I
have "bef 6 Jan 1290/1". They had four children that I'm showing, but all of
these could have been born by 1275 possibly. Allowing this Mary as a widow to
then marry Ralph and have two more children before his own death in 1295.

Possible?

Dear Will,

That would be a nice 'n neat fit, but the chronology won't
readily permit it.

The issue of Ralph de Tony and Mary his wife included

1. Robert the heir, born at 'Thornby' on 4 April 1276

2. Alice, his sister, was born sometime before 28 Nov
1285 (she
was aged 24 and more, or 27 and more, at her
brother's death
in 1309

The issue of William de Braose and his wife Mary (de Ros)
could, as you said, have all been born by ca. 1275, and (short of
documentation) Mary could have in theory remarried someone (incl. Ralph
de Tony) as early as late 1290 or early 1291; however, the dates of
birth for the Tony children noted above require another solution.

Hence, in part, my suggestion that Mary (wife of William de
Braose) was dau of Sir Piers de Ros, not of his elder brother Sir
Robert.......

Cheers,

John
