Origins of Sir John Loudham (c1269-1314)

Sir John Loudham (c1269-1314) stands at the head of the pedigree of the
Loudham family of Notts. We know that he married Alice de Kirketon.
Through the descent of the manor of Bluntshall in Essex, we can also
identify him as the "John de Ludham, aged 23" who was named as one of
the nephews and heirs of Nicholas Tregoz in the 1292 IPM of the
latter's widow, Eve.

In fact, this IPM, details of which were posted here in 2004 by Rosie
Bevan, names three nephews and heirs: John de Boys, aged 24; James de
Bornham, aged 26 and John de Ludham, aged 23.

This ties in with a legal case reported here by "Dave" back in 1998,
from the Trinity Term of 21 Edward I (1293) when the three nephews of
Nicholas Tregoz sued for the recovery of the manors of Bluntshall and
Tolleshunt. They were named as Joh de Wood, son of his sister Lucy;
James de Burnham, son of his sister Joan, and John Gernoun, son of his
sister Hawise.

It seems that we should identify John Loudham then as this "John
Gernoun", and slot him into the Tregoz pedigree as son of Hawise
Tregoz, sister of Nicholas and thus daughter of Geoffrey Tregoz.

Why John Gernon and not John de Wood equated with John de Loudham?

Too many Johns!

Sorry for the ignorance - can you explain the derivation briefly or
tell me where to look?

Thanks
