There are two entries for (le) Sa(u)vage:

III, 295

Quitclaim by James le Sauvage to Southwick Priory, of all right & claim
he had or could have in one hide in the vill of Clanefelde [Oxon],
which Lady Alice de Chesneto [Cheyney] formerly held, with all suit of
court, homage, relief, wardship & escheat etc; the priory will hold
that land by hereditary right in perpetuity etc; moreover the said
James has delivered to the priory all deeds pertaining to the property,
etc, dated after 1227, c1230-40; note: "it is possible that James le
Sauvage had been involved in some transaction with the priory over the
land at Clanfield, but there is no record of it in the cartularies. A
Sir James le Sauvage was Sheriff of Hampshire from 1256-8 but possibly
he is too late to be the donor of this quitclaim" - ie JS was
apparently not an heir of Alice de Cheyney, the donor of the property
at Clanfield to Southwick Priory - MA-R

III, 560

James le Salvage (sic), kight, then Sheriff of Hampshire, witness to a
charter of Walter le Chamberlayn, dated 1256-8 [because JS was then
Sheriff of Hants - see PRO List of Sheriffs, List of Indexes, 9, 1898,
p 54]
