Dear Newsgroup ~

Duke Henry II of Lorraine & Brabant, died 1261, was styled "kinsman"
[consanguinei nostri] by Alfonso X, King of Castile and León in a
letter dated 1258 {Reference: Butkens, Trophées tant sacres que
prohanes de la duché de Brabant, 1 (1637): Preuves, 95]. The two men
were related in the 2nd and 2nd degrees of kindred, or if you prefer
1st cousins, by virtue of their common descent from Philip, King of the
Romans, died 1208, as set forth below.

1. Philip, King of the Romans, died 1208.
2. Maria of Hohenstauffen, married Henry II, Duke of Brabant
3. Henry III, Duke of Lorraine & Brabant, died 1261.

1. Philip, King of the Romans, died 1208.
2. Beatriz (or Isabel) of Hohenstauffen, married [Saint] Fernando III,
King of Castile and León.
3. Alfonso X, King of Castile and León, died 1284.

Have you no care for correctness at all? Is it a necessity of pride &
egotism for you to repeat mistakes?

The title of the work that so fascinates you is _Trophées tant sacrés que
prophanes de la duché de Brabant_. If you insist on using an obsolete source
for documents that can be found in much more recent scholarly editions, why
stick to the first edition when you have been told that the second is also
available online?

And before you get that wrong too, the title is _Trophées sacrés et
prophanes du duché de Brabant_, 2 volumes (La Haye, 1724). See if you can
spot the difference.
