may be summoned before their Lordships to answer petitioner's complaint
against him of unlawfully detaining certain manors and lands in the
county of Berks descended to petitioner from his ancestors.

[June 26, 1661.] Petition of Edward Bullock. Prays for redress
against William Standen, who has unjustly got into possession and
detains from petitioner certain manors and lands in the county of
Berks, which had descended to Thomas Bullock, petitioner's uncle, from
his ancestors, and had been in the name about five hundred years.

p. 154:

[Jan. 10, 1661-2.] Petition of Edward Bullocke. Petitioner prays that
at the hearing of his cause against William Standen he may have leave
to make use of the depositions of witnesses taken about twelve years
since upon the former hearing of the cause, many of his most material
witnesses being now dead, and others so aged and infirm that they
cannot come up to be examined.

Am I reading that correctly? On second thought, it might be 'about'
Edward Bullock, rather than 'by' him ...
