For Todd: re Mohammed The Prophet to Castile

Todd, in Dec 2000 you made the statement:

There are no provable descents of any Castillian kings from Mohammed,
most such claims being more the result of wishful thinking than of
solid genealogical evidence.

Are you still of that opinion? Has no new evidence come to light?

What about your opinion the possible descents of (living)
British royalty from Mohammed? (i.e. Doria's thing)

Well, Doria's 'thing' really needs to be considered as 'things', as he
has proposed several connections, and they each need to be evaluated
individually. One of them relies on taking a pedigree found in a
romantic source and at one point in the pedigree substituting the
father given by the tradition (Ramiro II) with the authentic father
(Lovesendo), while retaining the supposed mistress of Ramiro as the
wife of Lovesendo and mother of his children. This certainly cannot
serve as the basis for any kind of 'proven' descent, as there is no
direct evidence that allows Lovesendo's wife to be identified. More
recently, he has identified several generations of ancestors for
Lovesendo, but if I recall correctly, much of this work is based simply
on indentifying individuals by given name (for the sake of
illustration, if the father of Bill was named Fred, and here we have
someone named Fred, then we will hypothesize that he is the same as
Bill's father). Again, one can debate the merits of the individual
identifications, but in the cases where there is nothing but name and
loose chronology in support, this likewise falls short of proof. Even
were proof to be found of these specific relationships, that only opens
up a second can of worms with regard to how valid the pedigrees from
that point back to Muhammad are (e.g. even were we to come up with a
solid pedigree to the Banu Qasi, the link of the Banu Qasi to the
Cordoba Caliphate are nothing but speculation, and the pedigree of the
Cordoba Caliphate back to Muhammad is suspect).

Todd Farmerie, aka Daffy Taffy, is always right about everything and is
never wrong about anything - don't take my word for it - just ask him,
he'll tell you - i can't understand why he hasn't been crowned king

This poster a service provides.
On a web page with lines where he hides
the flaws with his trees:
bringing down to their knees,
in laughter, the experts he derides.

Two fathers he gives to one man,
(he'll connect anyone that he can)
and spouses invented
in pedigrees presented,
reflect the compilers big plan -

with these trees, to thrill all his readers,
not knowing that most of the breeders
in the lines that he shows
are nought but shadows:
simply legends and mythical leaders.

And those that he traces to gods
with the sources and facts are at odds.
His analysis fails
to note these details,
but they surely do not escape Todd's.

When the latter reveals these results,
though look as he may to find faults,
the knowledge he lacks
to counter the facts,
so all he can lob are insults.
