Alexander Forbes (2nd laird of Echt) descended from Royal St

I have read that Elizabeth Forbes who married Alexander Burnett of Leys
(who inherited Leys in 1454) was daughter of Alexander Forbes (2nd
laird of Echt) and an unknown Skene. Does anyone know of any primary
evidence for these being Elizabeth's parents?

If the information comes from a book, such as on the Forbes Family, it
would be nice if the book would reinforce its data by stating if the
information comes from land records or other primary evidence.

Also, the above mentioned Alexander Forbes is said to be a son of
Thomas Forbes of Echt and Marjory Stewart (who is said to be a niece of
the Earl of Mar, hence a member of the Royal Stewart Family). Does
anyone know of good evidence to support these two as being the parents
of Alexander Forbes (2nd laird of Echt).

Especially important for a quite a few people is any good evidence of
Marjory Stuart being a niece of the Earl of Mar, as this would seem to
provide a royal descent from the Stewarts.

Any help is greatly appreciated, and if I can help, let me know.

The book you are referring to is "The House of Forbes" published in 1937 by
(editors) Alistair and Henrietta Tayler. It has the details as you give,
pity it does not spell out how Marjory Stewart is a niece of "the Earl of
Mar'. Hope someone can help.
