The Book of Hexham

Dear John, Will, and others,

http://books.google.com/books?id=3IIJAA ... ISO-8859-1
This Link if it works should take you directly to page 84 of a book on the
priory of Hexham , York which shows the charter continued on the following
page which Richard Cumin and Hextilda granted the village of Carraw attached to
his manor of Staincroft to the Priory of Hexham for its`use. It was
witnessed by Hugo de Moreville, Gillibertus and Odonell de Umfravill, Willelmus de
Sumervill, Walterus de Ridall, Willelmus de Lindescis, Walterus Cumin, Aguilfus
et Nicholaus frater ejus, Walterus filius Ranulfi, et multi alli

I especially noted that while called brother, neither Aguilfus nor Nicholaus
bears a surname. were they Richard Cumin`s household clergy?
One Thing further, at the bottom of page 85 is what appears to be a sort of
confirmation, the first witness is domino Willelmus Cumin comite de Buchan,
then one Ada de Tindal who may or may not be William`s sister Ada. Ada de
Tyndal is also mentioned in a charter on page 110 involving Staincroft.
Sincerely,
James W Cummings
Dixmont, Maine USA

If you read the whole charter you will see that Aguilfus is Richard's
knight and there is no evidence that either he or his brother are related
to Richard. The places named are Carraw, Stonecroft and Henshaw.
