The Family Hotman

Yesterday I received a small book of 62 pages entitled "Jean Hotman's
English Connection".

Jean or John was a son of Francis Hotman the "revolutionary" (biography by
Donald Kelley) who died in 1590. Both Francis and Jean have wikipedia entries.

Most subscribers to this list are interested in Francis because he had a
daughter Suzanne who is the ancestor of many French-Canadians, including myself.

At any rate, in a footnote in this new book they say something I've never
seen before. In discussing how certain letters got collected together they say
"Jean Hotman's grandson(?) Vincent Hotman d 1683, seigneur de Fontenay (son
of T. Hotman, "treasurer of France"), who married Marguerite Colbert, sister
of Louis XIV's minister".

The "T Hotman" above is "Timoleon Hotman" by the way.

I tried to check this out on David Baud's website but it's either down or
vanished.
