Répertoire de Généalogies Française s Imprimées CD Printing

Hello Folks,

I any of you have the Répertoire de Généalogies Françaises Imprimées CD
and are using it on Windows XP then perhaps you have noticed the same
printing problem I have. When you print out a large number of citations
for a single family, you get the citations printing without breaks over
the header title and footer copyright statement. I do not recall this
happening before I moved to XP and I see on the CD cover that XP is not
mentioned as being supported.

I have emailed Alsyd Multimédia for support on this issue. Meanwhile, I
found a workaround solution. Select the Microsoft Office Document Image
Writer as your printer. You will then be asked for a file name, save
the file. The Document Image Writer then opens with the file and you
can print it. Except for an occasional odd formatting near the footer
for some citations, this works great. (I did not install Office
Document Image Writer and I assume that it comes with XP.)

For those of you wondering why the Répertoire de Généalogies Françaises
Imprimées is important enough to merit any attention at all, this work,
by Colonel Arnaud, is a bibliographic index to works published on French
families. It is one of the key reference works when studying French
families. The CD is actually better than the printed volumes because
corrections and additions have been made. And they include the arms of
the families, when known, from the Grand Armorial de France. This work
is important for studying any French Medieval families. It is too bad
it was not continued on an ongoing basis like PERSI.

Hope someone on this list finds this tip helpful. If I hear back from
Alsyd with a better solution I will post their answer.

Thanks Denis for this tip about the Bibliothèque généalogique de Paris.
Several years ago, 2002, I purchased a CD from them that is an index
to their collection. I did not know that they now have an online
service. It is great that they are offering a service like this that
will be updating on an ongoing basis.

On the CD you have to double click on each hit to see the full citation.
This can be a real hassle when you have a lot of hits. Is it the same
for the online service?
