Anne Burgoyne, wife of Sir Richard St George

Anne, the daughter of Thomas Burgoyne and wife of Sir Richard St
George, survived her husband by many years, dying as late as 1523.

Her will is dated 23 August 1523 and was proved in the Consistory Court
of Ely on 21 January 1523/4, as "Dame Anne St George of Foxton".

In the will she named her son, Thomas St George, her apparently
unmarried daughter Elizabeth, her married daughters Katherine, Anne and
Ide (if I am reading the script properly; assuming this is the case,
this could be further evidence that the family was related to the
Cokayns of Cokayn Hatley). She also names her son-in-law Richard
Huntington and her "cosen" (ie great nephew) Christopher Burgoyne, and
makes a lengthy exhortation to her son not to challenge the particulars
of her will. Amongst other charitable bequests, five pounds is left to
the churchwardens of "Hungry Hatley" (ie Hatley St George) to be spent
on the tomb of her late husband Sir Richard.

The reference is VC8:89.
