Johanna, wife of William de Hertforth

"Yorkshire Archaeological and Topographical Journal," Vol. X (London,
1889), p. 349 has a pedigree in a footnote which shows that Johanna who
married William de Hertforth was the daughter of Geoffrey de Neville
and Margaret, the daughter of John de Longvillers. This William de
Hertforth and Johanna are shown as the great-great-grandparents of Joan
Hertforth who married Thomas Urswick.

I have not found any other source that Geoffrey and Margaret were the
parents of this Johanna. Can anyone verify this?

Hi Nancy,

I can't verify this, but there is a further reference in Hunter's South
Yorkshire:

"Gefrey de Nevile and Margaret his wife had issue, beside John de
Nevile, from who the line of the Nevils and Harringtons at Brierley, a
daughter named Johanna, who married William de Hertforth. To this
daughter her mother gave the manor of Badsworth... Joan de Hertforth
was living as a widow in 5 Edward III [1332]. She had Thomas, father of
William de Hertforth, lord of Badsworth in 3 Richard II" [1380].
[Joseph Hunter, South Yorkshire, Vol 2, London, 1828, p 436]

Regards,

John
