Horace Round recorded in "Ancient Charters" the 1123
Grant of King Henry I to Walter of Gloucester of all
land of Eadric son of Chetel (8 hides in
Gloucestershire as a "King's Thegn" recorded in the
Survey 1086)

Presumably this Eadric is the Eldred of Workington
who's son Ketel held numerous estates under Ranulph
Meschines and Ivo Taillebois (1st Baron of Kendal)in
Copeland and Westmoreland (Lancashire Pipe Rolls
Farrer)

Has anyone further evidence supporting the above
information?

Ketel is claimed to have had sons:- William (the
eldest) d.s.p.; Gilbert of Lancaster; and Orm of High
Ireby

According to Lancashire Pipe Rolls Farrer, Orm Fitz
Ketel married Gunild (d) Gospatrick (sometime Earl of
Northumberland prior to the removal of estates by
William I). Orm held estates in Workington, Preston
Patrick etc. He was witness of the 1094 Grant of Roger
Poictevin to the Abbey St Martin of Sees.

Children of Orm included Gospatrick of High Ireby.
Farrer (Lanc P/R) states that Gospatrick held lands in
Copeland and Westmoreland (probably about 1125/1130)

Has anyone evidence that Gospatrick of High Ireby had
a son Gospatrick of Samlesbury (1130-1200)? Samlesbury
is located in Blackburnshire (Lancashire)

Thankyou
