You my not be aware that last year two Florida researchers published a book
(privately printed) containing information on the Woodhalls:

John and Evelyn Reedy:

'Reformation Legacy: A Memorial to Archbishop Edmund Grindal of St. Bees
and the Family Histories of His Nephew and Nieces in England plus the
Related Grindal Lines in Western Cumbria'

One of those lines is, of course, that of Woodhall of Ullock in Dean.

This has a fairly high percentage of little errors (dates mistranscribed
form parish registers, that sort of thing) and one or two more serious
errors that I've noticed - but the book will be very useful to anyone not
familiar with West Cumbrian genealogy.

Interesting. I may have to check that out sometime in the future.

It's weird how garbled that account of the Woodhalls of Dean and Walden
became. Walden, Essex, morphed into Walttham, Leics., though Essex is
mentioned in the same vicinity. Also I couldn't figure out what was
intended by marriage to the "dowghter of Bran[che]." However, I think
"daughter of [the same] Branche" may have been intended, since there
was a marriage between Woodhall cousins in this family.

I've only just realised, on looking at it again, that there is more than one
page ... I'll need to concentrate on it a little more!!! Hmm, just spotted -
there is a footnote reference to a John Branche.

In order to help a query I posted on soc.genealogy.britain, I've made
available the administration bond of Henry Bowman. He was married to Dorothy
Woodhall, niece of Archbishop Grindal.
